Hello! One of our guests, from Switzerland, was kind enough to send us some pics of a wonderful bear view tour we were able to provide. This is what we really enjoy: Happy guests!
Happy Summer! (officially)
Smokey Bay Air's bear viewings just keep getting better.. Bears, and more bears and all sorts of activity going on. One of our guests was kind enough to send me a pic he took--and it is exceptional! Hopefully, they'll pose for you just like this...
Great weather is back, to go along with the plentiful bears at Chinitna Bay Lake Clark NP. And, like it is said, half the fun is getting there! Check out this pic of Mt Iliamna: That's Augustine in the background, Chinitna Bay in the mid ground and Iliamna in the foreground. Next, view a great vid of climbing out past Mt Iliamna and the steam vents. If you're in Anchorage, or anywhere in Alaska, come on down to beautiful Homer--you got to see this!
The bear viewing just keeps getting better and better. We saw over 20 bears on our last trip--and then quit counting.. One of our guests was kind enough to send a few pics, so check out the size of this fella! We're going into a nice stretch of sunny weather, so get on up to Homer and let us show you the bears! Or, a glacier flightsee or trip to Seldovia.
The bear viewings are going great! We had two groups today and they saw 20 bears. We've been going to Chinitna Bay at Lake Clark NP and have had decent weather to boot. Lots of bears and lots of activity, plus some great views of Iliamna volcano--have those cameras ready! Here is short vid taken by one of our pilots of some bear clamming activity. As long as the get their food, the bears are 'happy as a clam.' The clam--not so much...
A very good bear view Monday and we hope that the nice weather will repeat itself many times this summer! We went to Lake Clark National Park and landed at Chinitna Bay and saw a sow frolicking with her cub on the beach. But--as it is often said: half the fun is getting there (and getting back), as our guests were treated to some amazing views of Iliamna. Check the pic below. We are looking forward to many more such views. C'mon and do a bear view or flightsee soon!
Bear season is here! We went out to check some of the beaches we land on and saw several bears from the air, and 4 or 5 while on the ground while we walked the beach. They were digging for clams and putting the weight back on. It was a bit of a rainy day, but Lake Clark and Chinitna Bay are so beautiful--who cares?
Remember, when it comes to Alaskan coastal brown bear viewing, we know where to find them! If you've arrived or arriving Anchorage soon, come on down to the Kenai Peninsula and let us show you the bears. Or, a glacier flightsee tour or a trip to Seldovia. We also charter, so if you want to be picked upon Anchorage, that can be arranged.
Here is one of our beach landings at Chinitna Bay;
This past Thursday, Smokey Bay Air participated in the Front Line trade show, hosted by Visit Anchorage. It was great to meet so many in the tourism business and some potential visitors.
So many of those visiting Homer have their trip begin or end (or both) in Anchorage. It was great being able to pitch the wonderful opportunities that Smokey Bay Air can offer to those considering a trip to Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. We are 10 days out from having our first Bear View tour and are excited about having a great season and being part of being able show some of the most beautiful and scenic parts of Alaska to our visitors.
As visitors consider a Homer visit, part of the experience is the incredible drive there from Anchorage. However, keep in mind, if it is desired, we can always be charted to provide the transportation from Anchorage to Homer, or Homer to Anchorage.
The summer is right around the corner--enjoy!
It has been a gorgeous spring day in Homer and the Kachemak Bay--bluebird skies and a light onshore breeze. Perfect for a flightsee tour of our amazing glaciers and the Harding Icefield!
We are getting very close to kicking off our bear viewing season and excited to show our valued customers the Alaskan brown bears in the beautiful Katmai or Lake Clark National Parks.
To those arriving Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula is Alaska's Playground and is stunning. And Homer, is one of the Kenai's crown jewels. Please take some time with our website and explore all that we offer--we know we can make your visit memorable. Hopefully, you'll come back often, summer and winter!
Here is an image of what you'll see in Homer from up on Diamond Ridge. Please let us know what we can do to help with your plans.
